Isaiah begins the chapter stating this message from the LORD will be met with unbelief.
"Who has believed our report?"
The prophet of the LORD begins his words with a warning, stating he knows his words will not be received by his listeners, that the majority of the listeners will not believe.
It's like when we preface our words with, "You're not going to believe what I'm about to tell you."
Unbelief can come in the form of doubt and uncertainty, or of refusal and opposition. A weather report or a report from a doctor can go unheeded by the listener with limited repercussions, but a disregarded report from the LORD has not only lifelong, but also eternal consequences.
Take heed, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart,
leading you to fall away from the living God. - Hebrews 3:12
This same word 'report' is sometimes translated 'good news' as it is in Proverbs 25:25 -
As cold water to a weary soul,
So is good news from a far country.
There's no more picturesque language in all of Scripture of the rejection and crucifixion and resurrection of the LORD's Servant, the Moshiach (the Anointed, the Messiah).
If 2520 is The Signature of God that displays the Author of Scripture to be the Creator of the Universe as well, then Isaiah 53 specifically gives us the message that we need to personally believe and trust to be made right with Him.
Genesis 15:6
And he (Abraham) believed in the LORD, and He counted it to him as righteousness.
Note the weekly schedule of Scriptural Readings skips Isaiah 53, every adjoining chapter is read in a haphazard fashion, but whether on purpose or not, this chapter is passed over, and has been referred to among the Jewish people as The Forbidden Chapter.
In the opening pages of the book of Genesis we read that after the sin of Adam and Eve, the curse is pronounced, but even in the judgment of sin, the LORD promises a Savior.
In Genesis 15, Abraham believes the LORD, and the LORD counts his faith and trust as righteousness. Abraham. A sacrifice confirms the covenant.
Numbers 7 contains a very detailed sacrifice at the dedication of the altar.
Daniel 5 - Belshazaar is judged and his life is taken for blaspheming God's name.
Daniel 9 - The sacrificial system is re-instituted during a future 2520-day period, known as the 70th Week of Daniel.
Isaiah 53 is the once and for all, final sacrifice. The only one that God the Father has ordained, and the only one He accepts.
Isaiah 53:7
He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.
John 1:29
Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
Peter 1:19-20
But with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you.
Revelation 13:8
...the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
